2016 Favorites

Here's are some of some of mine and my kiddos favorite things from 2016!

1. Leggings. Specifically LuLaRoe or Buskins. You can read my thoughts on both here. But really, any brand will do! I think I'm up to about 20 pairs of various leggings.

2. NursEletBracelet for Nursing Mom to remind which breast to use next. Hands-free solution to make breastfeeding and pumping easier and more comfortable for nursing mother.

3. Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. I've tried A LOT of mascara this year, this is by far my favorite!

4. Scentsy Toffee Butter Crunch. Best. Scent. Ever!

5.  Baby And The Fox Teething Jewelry. I did a review earlier this year.. Christopher and I are still loving these products!

6. Garden Of Life / Doctor Formulated Vitamins and Probiotics.

7. LunchBlox. These are perfect for packing the kids lunches! We've tried so many brands and LunchBlox are our favorites!

8. Pandora Charm Bracelet. It took me 8 years to finish mine, just added my last charm for Christmas! And I love it!

9. My makeup organizers.. found here and here

10. My iPhone 7plus in rose gold. I was apprehensive at first, but I'm so glad my Hubby convinced me not only to make the change from 6 to 7, but also to the plus! I love it!

Let me know in the comments below if you are also loving any of these items and/ or what are some of your favorite products from 2016?!

How To Clean Your Rings

For Christmas I got this beautiful ring from Chris (you can read the story behind it on my Instagram @MrsWatkins214). As I slipped it on my finger all sparkly and brand new, I realized how dirty/ dingy my wedding rings were!

New Ring!

I obviously don't want to drive 35 mins to take them to the jewler to be cleaned, so it's up to me to get them looking as good as new!

Before

I used a mixture of warm water, dawn dish soap and a little vinegar with a soft bristle tooth brush. Soak them for a few mins then gently scrub them. Repeat if needed. Mine were disgusting after wearing them for almost 2 years and not ever taking them off! So it took a little extra time and elbow grease. .

After. You can def see the difference!

I'll Show You My Holiday Decor Tour

I'll Show You My is here again! The monthly collaboration I do with my good friends Christina and Tracy. And just like the last few months Danielle and Dara are joining us as well!

If you follow me on Instagram @MrsWatkins214 then you've seen a few sneak peaks of our Christmas Decorations! Since I've had them up since before Thanksgiving.. I love Love LOVE Christmas! So I'm so super excited to show you the full tour!

This year I kept it classic and simple. I didn't put out all my decorations, just my favorites.. and I added a few new pieces as well. I went with a traditional red and green color scheme, I know the new style is white and silver/ gold. But I love the "real" Christmas colors.. And to tie in with my country style home, I tried to use as many rustic items as I could!

I couldn't help but include a picture of my favorite ornament! See how many red trucks you can count in my holiday decor!

Let me start with the Christmas trees, we have 3 trees this year. The main tree in the living room, the kids tree up in the nook and the mini tree also in the living room near our stockings.

Chris and I have been collecting Nutcrackers.. We thought it would be fun to get a new one each year to add to the collection. And one day, when our children bring their children over for the holidays we'll have many Nutcrackers to show them. Such a sweet tradition to start if I do say so myself!

My table is simple but festive! Placemats and a few candles are all it needs.

The hutch has one of my absolute favorite decorations.. My train! I got it from Party Lite about 5 years ago. It's too cute!

The kitchen only has a few things.. I like to keep my counters clear for cooking.

The cast iron pans where my Grandfathers so I always have them hanging!

I wanted the nook to be fun for the kiddos, since it is their space after all. Just some cutsie, silly things up there for them!

This is a children's Nativity.. they can take it down and play with it whenever they like. We are Christian so we celebrate the TRUE meaning of CHRISTmas as well as incorporating Santa clause into the day.

The main bathroom I went with a snowman/ snowflake decor.. it's blue and white, not red and green. Just to mix it up a bit!

And last but not least, our front porch (before it snowed)!

I hope you enjoyed this months I'll Show You My! If you're interested in collaborating with us, please let me or one of the other ladies know! The more the merrier!

Guest Blogger: Jamie's Egg Roll In A Bowl

Hi! I'm Jamie! I was really excited when Katie asked me if I wanted to write a guest post, I love writing, I love blogs, and I love food! I'm a mom of three boys, I also take care of a few other little boys at different times throughout the week. For the last 18 months I've focused on my health, I was dealing with a lot of anxiety and depression that I coped with by eating anything and everything. I've made major changes and have lost sixty pounds! That being said, with such a busy life, I have to have a lot of quick and easy AND healthy meals ready to go. My kids don't love this, but they can be kind of picky, but I'm sure if I made this into little egg roll pies or even traditional egg rolls they would eat it, but I don't mind not sharing! It is hands down my favorite lunch, I make a batch on Monday and throw it on top of some baby spinach each day, it doesn't even need any salad dressing! I'm very low carb, but you could add rice, bean sprouts, or as I mentioned, stick it in an egg roll wrapper and bake or fry it! It takes all of fifteen minutes at the most, and it's an inexpensive dinner too!

Egg Roll in a Bowl

Ingredients:
1 lb ground sausage
1 bag dry coleslaw mix (shredded cabbage and carrots)
5 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
1 teaspoon ginger
sliced green onion

Instructions:
In a large, deep skillet, brown sausage. Meanwhile in a small bowl, combine garlic, soy sauce, and ginger; set aside.
Once sausage is cooked through, add dry coleslaw mix to skillet and stir to combine.
Pour soy sauce mixture into the skillet and stir, continuing to cook over medium heat for about 5 minutes or until cabbage is wilted, but still a bit crunchy. Serve with sliced green onion.

  • salt and black pepper, to taste

  • During the last two minutes of cooking, add the brussel sprouts and stir well.
  • Add the drained pasta to the skillet. Stir to combine. Add the Parmesan, and season with salt and pepper, to taste. Serve and enjoy!

Christmas Gift - Date Night Basket

I was on the hunt for a good gift to get a special couple (can't say for who, don't want to ruin the surprise) but I didn't want to just give a giftcard for dinner. So of course, I checked out Pinterest for some ideas!

I thought this Date Night Basket was the perfect present! I wrapped each item, because I love to wrap and who doesn't LOVE unwrapping! In the basket is wine glasses, a romantic comedy Christmas movie, a box of hot chocolate, a box of popcorn and a bottle of wine!
